Kyleigh's Story - New Furniture!

Kyleigh's belongings have overgrown over time and it has been a long time discussion how to deal with the issue. We tried several different solutions with small shelves, desks, organizers, buckets, and drawers, but nothing has been really effective. My husband had full intention to build some shelves for her, but we do not have any tool or space, nor any experience or time. So, we decided to buy rather than build.

Last night we drove to the Woodbridge IKEA and spent 2 hours browsing the store. My husband had looked on line and pre-selected two possible shelving systems. But when we got to the store, the real thing did not look as nice. We took notes and discussed a few new options, and finally everyone agreed on the STUVA system.  Kyleigh (and myself) also picked several stuffed animals and other soft toys along the way.

Unfortunately when we went to the self-serve inventory warehouse, we found out the shelving parts were out of stock!  We were so disappointed because we spent so much time to finally settle on what we wanted. But Kyleigh still went home with bunch of toys and the new drawing easels, so she was not complaining.

This morning my husband checked the inventory and they had not been restocked. So he checked another store in Maryland, and they had the parts! So he drove all the way up and got everything. He also got a new blue chair (because originally Kyleigh wanted a blue desk). Now, this shelving system is officially the most expensive piece of furniture in the whole house.

My husband spent the whole day at home to put everything together. He also cooked chili for dinner.

This is still an in-progress picture. Later we put the shelves in and moved the whole thing to the right against the wall. Her TV is meant to be mounted on the wall in the middle, but that's a project for another day.

Now the next step is to fill up the shelves, and clear the floor!  We are making a little bit of progress each day.
